Domino's has the remedy for pizza emergencies

Domino's brings back Emergency Pizza promo amid declining sales. The chain also ventures into gaming partnerships to attract new audiences.

Domino's has the remedy for pizza emergencies

I have never once in my life experienced an emergency that required pizza.

Dominos apparently disagrees.

This week, the chain announced the return of its ever-popular 'Emergency Pizza' promo, which originally launched last year.

The deal goes as follows:

Any customer can score a free, medium, two-topping pizza 'to use whenever they need it most,' when they order online or via digital carry out and spend $7.99 or more. The offer is valid until Jan. 19, 2025, and must be redeemed within 30 days via a customer's Domino's rewards account.

'Life can throw unexpected curveballs, and sometimes a hot, delicious pizza is just what you need to turn things around,' said Kate Trumbull, Domino's Senior VP, in a statement.

However, I suspect declining sales over the last several months may have something to do with giving away millions of free pizzas. Idk, just a hunch.

Despite holding the 'coveted title of the largest pizza chain in the US, and the world,' the restaurant has struggled to attract customers.

In fact, they saw a $40 million drop in revenue during Q2 of 2023.

Probably due in part to the fact that inflation, the cost of living, and supply chain issues were skyrocketing at this time. And restaurants and fast-food chains alike raised their prices to accommodate.

Dominos was no exception to this hike. This was potentially to its detriment, affecting the demand for its food.

However, as prices began to fall again this year, the pizza chain became one of many other fast-food chains promising lower prices and better promotions.

And it would appear they've followed through on that promise.

The restaurant brand has also joined forces with The Glitch - Amazon and Twitch's newest game, making its debut in the gaming world.

This will be a dedicated brand experience within The Glitch, launching on today (October 14th). Within it, 'players can experience a Red vs. Blue player map where teams can compete against each other for "Domin-ation" by capturing and maintaining control of a Domino's storefront.'

Super random, but I'm kind of here for it.

Like the Emergency Pizza, customers will also be able to buy an Emergency Pizza Manicure Kit. In case, you know, your nails look bad during your pizza party, or something.

'This limited-edition kit comes with two exclusive Domino's nail polish colors - carryout (red) and delivery (blue) - as well as quick dry top coat for the perfect nails. It also features pizza topping nail stickers for a delicious finishing touch.'

There are three designs to choose from, including 'I Heart Pizza French,' 'Secret Sauce Velvet' or 'Extra Cheese Please.'

Obviously, the brand is reaching to access new customers within the gaming and beauty audiences.

Will it be enough to save Dominos from falling revenue this quarter? Time will tell.
